Scrivener 3 Tip – Icons from Text for POV

March 12, 2018

I've been playing around with one of the new features in Scrivener 3, the ability to assign an Icon from Text to an item. In the below image, I've used single letters to represent the hero (H), villain (V), and heroine (E).

I've also used labels to indicate either suspense (red) or romance (blue) and told Scrivener to show the label color in the icon.

You can see how this looks in both the Binder and on the Corkboard.

I haven't decided yet if I like this system better than just having the POV represented by label color. What do you think?

  1. I really like this! I’ve been wondering how to denote POV and this is perfect. And I also love the color-coding to indicate the scene emotion. I’ve been using a spreadsheet for both of these things. Good-bye, spreadsheet!

    1. Carrie,

I’m so glad you found this helpful!

The tips I mentioned here are some of the reasons I love Scrivener so much. It can track all sorts of useful things.

      Happy writing!

      Vanessa
