Today was the first day of National Novel Writing Month, aka NaNoWriMo. Writers across the globe dove into their writing projects with great enthusiasm.

But once the early glow from these first few days wears off, how do you keep yourself on track?
One way is to schedule your writing sessions for the entire month, so that you see them on your calendar. Even if you can't write at exactly the time you've set up, having already blocked out dates and times for getting those words down should keep you moving forward.
Use your preferred calendar app on your computer or your mobile device. Something that you check frequently. And that can be set to pop up reminders.
Or put your writing dates on a paper calendar. In color. Maybe even add a fun sticker after you've completed each date.
If you're not a calendar person, use your Bullet Journal. Or your daily planner.
You can set up a recurring task in your favorite to-do app. I use the Alarmed app on my iPhone. Not only can I set recurring tasks, but I can have Alarmed nag me if I don't mark the item as complete.
Need something more in-your-face? Try sticking thirty Post-It Notes to the edges of your monitor with the date written on them. Remove the appropriate note each day. Kind of like a reverse Advent calendar.
Whatever works for you, commit to a regular schedule now and you'll find it easier to keep going as the month progresses.
Do you have a favorite scheduling tool? Let me know in the comments.
Until next time,
Good Luck and Happy Writing!
